Pregancy and newborn care in hospital will be part of the LFP Payment Model. Payment for pregnancy and newborn care services in hospital is weighted toward time to reflect the workflow and unpredictability of labour and birth care. There is also a premium on after-hours direct patient care time.
As previously announced, retroactive to December 1, 2023, an on-call payment will be provided via Medical On-call Availability Program (MOCAP).
More information on the LFP Payment Model that incorporates facility-based care will be shared in the coming months. To access the most up-to-date information on LFP for facility-based care, visit BC Family Doctors’ webpage on LFP Payment Model: Pregnancy and Newborn Care in Hospital or Doctors of BC’s LFP Payment Model webpage.
