Sections and societies are independent non-profit groups that support the health and well-being of patients, communities, and health care systems. These interest-based groups offer members opportunities to shape policy, develop educational initiatives, and collaborate advocacy efforts through their respective section, as well as through the Doctors of BC Physician Master Agreement (PMA) Negotiations and the Representative Assembly.
Specialist Sections represent the unique interests of each medical specialty within Doctors of BC. Sections can be formed when a group shares common:
- Economic interests.
- Clinical, education, and networking purposes.
- Belonging to a particular discipline of the practice of medicine.
Regardless of career stage, practice setting, or background, members can network with peers, consult experts on challenging cases, and access resources to stay informed about developments in their fields. By engaging with these groups, members contribute to advancing care standards and driving meaningful changes in practice.
The recognition and duty of each section is stated under Section 4.1 & 4.3 of the 2022 Constitution and Bylaws of the Doctors of BC (BCMA).
