Practice management tools: Support and peace of mind

August 23, 2024

As part of our strategic plan, Doctors of BC is committed to promoting a working environment where doctors have access to the supports they need, when they need them. You have told us on a broad and individual level that the day-to-day responsibility of running of a practice can often be burdensome, particularly when it comes to administrative work and keeping up with ever-evolving technology.

To support members in feeling confident about running a practice, and running it efficiently, Doctors of BC has developed several practice management tools and initiatives aimed at alleviating some of the burdens and improving workflows. This in turn enables you to focus more on providing patient care, while also helping bring some peace of mind and improve your overall well-being and safety, as well as that of your staff and patients.

Business Pathways: Managing your practice effectively

Business Pathways is a Doctors of BC initiative that focuses on supporting you when it comes to navigating the challenges that may arise with running a business, and when it comes to protecting you and your team’s physical and psychological safety. It provides access to valuable resources, information, toolkits, and expert advice on such things as starting your business, emergency preparedness, conflict management, human resources management, and other key dimensions of managing your office.

Practice Support Program: Optimizing your practice

The Practice Support Program (PSP) helps family physicians who need assistance optimizing their practices and adopting key Patient Medical Home attributes. If you need help managing your patient panel, would like to learn more about team-based care, or want to explore how you can streamline workflows and scheduling within your practice, PSP’s team of dedicated coaches can help you make positive changes—so you can reduce administrative burdens, improve work-life balance, and build a more integrated team. We can also connect you with physician peers who can share ways they have improved their work-life balance.

Doctors Technology Office: Keeping your clinic secure

The Doctors Technology Office (DTO) offers a comprehensive suite of health technology practice supports and resources to guide physicians and practice teams through the technology landscape. Using new health technologies and systems can help you improve patient care and streamline the demand on your time, and safeguarding patient data is paramount – especially with the ever-looming threat of data breaches. But learning more about technology solutions and cybersecurity can feel like a daunting task for a busy clinical team. DTO is here to act as your one-stop-shop for all health technology support—including resources to keep your clinic secure and your mind at ease.
