Call for nominations: Doctors of BC 2024 elections

October 3, 2024

On October 2nd, all members received the call for nominations for Doctors of BC’s 2024 elections. This is your opportunity to nominate candidates you want to represent you as your President-Elect and as your elected Representative Assembly (RA) Delegates – positions that the membership will later vote on and elect.

It is also your opportunity to nominate candidates for the Board of Directors and various Statutory Committees – positions nominated by the membership and elected by the RA.

As part of our broader work around equity, diversity, and inclusion, Doctors of BC is making efforts to increase the diversity and inclusivity of our governance bodies – the Board, Representative Assembly, and Committees – while also working to ensure that all members have an equal opportunity to participate in these bodies.

To be eligible to nominate an individual – or be nominated – you must be a Doctors of BC member in good standing in a category eligible to hold office and vote. All positions will take effect on January 1, 2025.

In light of the Bylaw referendum that was recently approved by members, there are some key changes to the Board. Board Director at Large positions have been extended from two years to three years; and the Board size has increased from 9 to 11 positions, with a composition that includes the immediate Past President (one additional Officer) and one additional Director at Large. This additional position has created a vacancy for one Board Director at Large, which for this election cycle must be a specialist to maintain a family physician/specialist balance on the Board.
