Doctors of BC is proud to represent the interests of physicians across British Columbia. We do this in a number of different ways, and one of them is through the work of Doctors of BC board and Representative Assembly (RA) members. The terms for 11 of these positions have ended and are up for election. Until March 22nd, we are accepting nominations for the roles of President-Elect, elected delegates to the RA, and a Director from BC to sit on the Canadian Medical Association Board.
On March 2, 2020, all members in good standing would have received the Call for Nominations from our CEO, Mr Allan Seckel. Members are welcome to self-nominate, as well as nominate other candidates to these governance positions. This is your opportunity to have your interests and considerations represented.
The Representative Assembly Elected Delegate positions up for election in 2020 are:
- District 1 (Lower Island) – Specialist
- District 2 (Upper Island) – GP
- District 6 (South of the Fraser) – GP
- District 7 (Okanagan Thompson) – Specialist
- District 8 (East/West Kootenays) – GP
- District 9 (Skeena) – GP
- Rural – GP

- First Nations - Specialist
We are committed to diversity and inclusion and have been working to foster a more inclusive environment within our governance bodies. With this in mind, Doctors of BC encourages nominations from all groups for all positions.
The nomination and election process is a chance for members to step up and offer their unique perspectives and to make a real difference for BC’s physicians . Contributions from members in these positions help define the Association’s strategic direction, while supporting practicing physicians across the province.
The nomination process is simple, involving a Nomination Form for each position, and then securing a Nominator and Seconder by the nominee.
More details about the positions up for election in 2020, eligibility and role descriptions, and the nomination process, are found in the Call For Nominations (member login required).
