The WorkSafeBC Negotiations Coordinating Group is responsible for making a recommendation to the Negotiations Forum on its mandate, which includes the strategic approach, core objectives, proposals and physician response plan, for all provincial negotiations with WorkSafeBC.
It also provides advice, input and feedback to the WorkSafeBC Negotiating Committee during negotiations.
Objectives and Responsibilities
The WorkSafeBC Negotiations Coordinating Group:
- Reviews all negotiations submissions provided by the membership, staff, and any other sources.
- Develops a recommended mandate for review and approval of the Negotiations Forum.
- Provides feedback and advice to the Negotiating Committee throughout negotiations process.
Membership
The WorkSafeBC Negotiations Coordinating Group is comprised of the WorkSafeBC Negotiating Committee, plus one representative each from BC Family Doctors, the Society of General Practitioners, the Specialists of BC, the organization representing physicians who are employed by WorkSafeBC, and the Doctors of BC Negotiator.
Each of the BC Family Doctors,Specialists of BC and organization representing physicians who are employed by WorkSafeBC shall nominate a single representative who shall fill the role of Doctors of BC Negotiator, subject to and upon approval of the Doctors of BC Board of Directors.
The Chair of the WorkSafeBC Negotiations Coordinating Group is the Chair of the WorkSafeBC Negotiating Committee.
Attributes
- Members must bring a perspective and solid understanding of physicians’ relationship with WorkSafeBC. (Sections that are regularly involved with the treatment of WorkSafeBC patients include, but are not limited to, General Practice, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Anesthesiology, Sports Medicine, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.)
- Members must have the ability to represent broader physician viewpoints, as well as providing insight as to the physician’s own practice area.
- Members must have an understanding of the role of the WorkSafeBC agreements in the broader context of the Physician Master Agreement as well as physicians’ day to day practices
