The Audit and Inspection Committee (AIC) is currently looking to fill positions for Physician Medical Inspectors to add to a pool of doctors who may be called upon to conduct an MSP billing audit. Doctors who have undergone any form of an audit understand it can be a stressful process. Having a peer of the same specialty conduct the review is in their best interest as it may help make the process more manageable.

The AIC will consider any interested physicians but is particularly seeking physicians in the Sections listed below:

  • Family Medicine: Fee for Service (FFS) and/or Longitudinal Family Physician Payment Model
  • Neurosurgery
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Rheumatology

Candidates must:

  • Be an active registrant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC)
  • Have practices which are consistent with the patterns of billing in the practitioner’s section
  • Demonstrate knowledge of—and apply the policies and principles of—the Medical Services Commission (MSC) and CPSBC
  • Be able to exercise sound judgment
  • Have an understanding and knowledge of the MSC Payment Schedule
  • Not be in circumstances which give rise to a conflict of interest

Candidates are preferred to:

  • Have five or more years of clinical experience
  • Have three or more years’ experience billing from the MSC Payment Schedules (fee-for-service and Longitudinal Family Physician payment model) in BC.
