Board Election Results

Dear Members of the BCMA:

Voting for the 2013 Board Elections concluded yesterday at midnight and as the Chief Electoral Officer I am now able to report the results to you.

Each year three offices are up for election. This year, the office of President –Elect was contested by only one physician,  Dr. William Cavers. Accordingly he was acclaimed to that office.

There were elections for the other two offices, namely the Chair of the General Assembly and the Honorary Secretary Treasurer. In addition, many district delegate positions were up for election, but in all districts but District 1 the candidates were acclaimed. Accordingly, unless you were in District 1 you were asked to vote only for the two offices. District 1 also voted for delegates to the Board.

The results are as follows:

The Office of Chair of the General Assembly:

Dr. Trina Larsen Soles was elected. Dr. Larsen Soles received 375 of the votes cast; Dr. Charles Webb received 341 of the votes cast. 7 Ballots were left blank.

The Office of the Honorary Secretary Treasurer:

Dr. Lloyd Oppel was elected. Dr. Oppel received 387 of the votes cast; Dr. James Busser received 318 of the votes cast. 18 Ballots were left blank.

District 1

There are two vacancies. One is a two year term. The other is a one year term to replace Dr. William Cavers, who was acclaimed as President Elect.

Dr. Robin Saunders was elected to the two year term with 70 votes.  Dr. Michael Putland was elected to the one year term with 36 votes. Dr. Milt Baker was not elected and received 21 votes.

While there were no elections in other Districts, as a consequence of these results there will be vice-delegates that will move up to become delegates. A complete list of the BCMA Board for 2013-14 will be posted on the BCMA website within 10 days.
