Divisions of Family Practice and partners gather at Summer 2013 Provincial Round Table

August 1, 2013

The Summer 2013 Provincial Round Table, held June 12 - 14, provided an excellent opportunity for physicians, Divisions of Family Practice coordinators and executive directors, to share ideas and develop solutions to common issues that will help better serve the needs of patients.

With all 32 local divisions represented, along with the BCMA, the Ministry of Health, the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC), the Physician Data Collaborative (PDC), the Physician Information Technology Office (PITO) and health authorities, participants were able to learn from each other via a number of workshops, open tables, and table talks.

A key focus was strengthening organization development and inter-organizational collaboration.

“It provided me an opportunity to see the ‘bigger picture’ of what’s happening within and between the divisions.” said one attendee.

Divisions of Family Practice is an initiative of the GPSC committee, a partnership between the BC Medical Association and the BC Ministry of Health. Divisions are groups of physicians organized at the local or regional level who work to address common health care goals. This initiative was designed to improve patient care, increase family physicians’ influence on health care delivery and policy, and provide professional satisfaction for physicians.
