Dear Members:
Please consider this document as the Doctors of BC official call for nominations for the upcoming elections. Here are the important dates to remember:
2014 ELECTION FOR OFFICERS, DELEGATES, VICE-DELEGATES AND
DISTRICT NOMINATORS
NOMINATIONS CLOSE – 11:59 pm, Thursday March 20, 2014
ELECTRONIC VOTING STARTS – Thursday April 17, 2014
ELECTRONIC VOTING ENDS – 11:59 PM, Thursday May 15, 2014
ELECTION COUNTS – Friday May 16, 2014
Enclosed are nomination papers as well as a list of the elected Delegates, Vice-Delegates and District Nominators as they exist at the present time, with the requirements for each District for this election.
Officers are elected to the Board of Directors for a one-year period, Delegates are elected for a two-year period and Vice-Delegates and District Nominators are elected for a one-year period.
Members of the Doctors of BC may be nominated as an Officer if they meet two requirements: they must be a member in good standing and they must have a registered mailing address in the province of BC. Members who are seeking nominations for the offices of Delegate, Vice-Delegate or District Nominator must be a member in good standing with a registered mailing address in the District.
Nominations shall be made in writing on the enclosed form, signed by the member making the nomination, the member or members seconding the nomination and the nominee indicating acceptance of the nomination. All signatories must meet the same criteria as the candidates, as listed above.
Successful candidates must sign the Doctors of BC Code of Conduct that is included in the nomination package. Candidates should also review the new election guidelines that can be found here. The new guidelines will ensure campaigns are run in a fair and open manner, and that candidates’ views are expressed in a way that is dignified and courteous.
Completed forms must be returned to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer before 11:59 pm, Thursday March 20, 2014.
