CEO's Notice of 2024 Election Results

Dear Members,

Voting in Doctors of BC’s 2024 elections has concluded and as the Chief Electoral Officer I am now able to share the results with you, including the composition of your 2025 Board of Directors. All positions are effective as of January 1, 2025.

Elected by the membership

President-Elect

With a total of 2,032 votes cast, and taking into consideration the preferential voting (ranking) system in place, Dr Adam Thompson was the successful candidate achieving 1,085 votes by the 3rd round of voting.

Please join me in congratulating Dr Adam Thompson as President-Elect for 2025.

Representative Assembly (RA) Delegates

Family Physicians

Delegate from District 6 (South of the Fraser)

Delegate who provides services in a rural community within the scope of the Rural Subsidiary agreement

Delegate who provides services to the First Nations Health Authority or in other Indigenous health contexts

• Dr Curtis Smecher (acclaimed)

Please note: in accordance with Doctors of BC’s Failure to Nominate Policy, the Nominating Committee will undertake a process to nominate individuals for all vacant RA roles.

Board of Director at Large – Specialist 

For the Board Directors at Large – Specialist position, Dr Laurie Main was acclaimed for a three-year term.

Statutory Committees

For positions elected to Statutory Committees, Dr David Kim was elected as the General Member at Large to the Audit and Finance Committee, Dr Melissa Duff was elected as the General Member at Large to the Governance Committee, and Dr Anas Toweir was acclaimed to the Nominating Committee.
