DocTalks vodcast: How doctors can support equity, diversity, and inclusion and anti-racism in health care

In the latest episode of the DocTalks vodcast, Doctors of BC Past President, Dr Ramneek Dosanjh, hosts a roundtable discussion with guests Dr Terri Aldred, Dr Faisal Khosa, Dr Tatiana Sotindjo, and Dr Evan Tlesla II Adams, to discuss equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and anti-racism in health care. In the vodcast, they discuss how doctors can acknowledge their own biases and have courageous conversations in this area to bring about change both on an individual and system-wide level.

Dr Terri Aldred is Carrier from the Tl’Azt’En Nation located north of Fort St. James. Dr Aldred is the Medical Director for Primary for FNHA, the Site Director for the Indigenous Family Medicine Program, Family Physician for Carrier Sekani Family Services, and the Indigenous Lead for the RCcBC.

Dr Faisal Khosa, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia. He is also the Head of Grants and International Collaboration at the UBC Emergency & Trauma Radiology program. Dr Khosa is an expert in EDI and takes a keen interest in mentoring students from underrepresented and minority groups.

Dr Tatiana Sotindjo, is an Adolescent Health and Medicine Specialist Pediatrician and Hudson Scholar in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, 2020-2022.

Dr Evan Tlesla II Adams is a Coast Salish physician from the Tla’amin First Nation near Powell River, BC. Dr Adams is currently on exchange with First Nations & Inuit Health Branch, Indigenous Services Canada, as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Public Health.
