Update November 14 - Thank you to physicians who expressed an interest to participate in this advisory working group. The call for expressions of interest has now closed. The Nominating Committee is expected to make its recommendations for appointments to the working group at its meeting in November and will forward them to the Board for final approval. The goal is to have the group ready to start its work early in the new year. Watch for updates in our In Circulation newsletter and on our web site. Want to subscribe to In Circulation? Are you a physician who is interested in helping to make Doctors of BC more diverse and inclusive?
We hope you will consider applying for one of eight positions on a new Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Working Group. The group – created at the direction of the Board - will advise staff and a consultant on the development of an engagement plan, with the goal of seeking member views on how we can achieve greater diversity and inclusion within Doctors of BC governance structures (Board, Representative Assembly and committees).
Members of the group will provide input into the development of tools to gather member views and the member engagement process as it relates to this work.
Reflecting the diversity of our membership
As much as is possible, members of the Advisory Group will reflect the diversity of Doctors of BC membership. This includes an intention to ensure representation of physicians based on factors such as: type of practice, stage of career (including residents and medical students), rural/urban practice setting, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, cultural, background, religion, Indigenous/First Nations, disability, and age.
