Manage Your Money

April 2, 2012

Did you know BC physicians spend an average of 30-40% of their gross income running their practice?

How can you manage your practice more efficiently?

BC doctors spend more money managing their practice than doctors in any other province. According to the 2010 National Physician Survey, the national average is around  26%. This may be largely due to the high cost of living in BC, particularly in Vancouver, which has the most expensive real estate market in Canada.

The BCMA offers several programs aimed at maximizing the efficiency of physician practices. Both the General Practice Solutions Committee (GPSC) and the Specialist Service Committee (SSC) are designed to improve practice efficiency, enhance patient care, and improve job satisfaction among physicians.  There are also numerous benefits available to BC physicians including reimbursement of malpractice fees, funding for continuing medical education, and group plans for retirement savings and disability insurance.
