What does "youth mental health" mean to you? Show us by creating a visual we can feature on posters, social media, and online to help raise awareness of youth mental health.
52% of BC youth reported feeling sad, lonely, and depressed in the past month.
What’s worse is that many of them don’t feel comfortable telling their family, and all too often wrestle with stress and depression on their own.
Doctors of BC wants to raise awareness of youth mental health. We are looking for original artwork submissions from BC’s youth that expresses what youth mental health and wellbeing means to them.
The winners’ artwork will be displayed on posters, via social media, and online, with credit to the artist. Winners also receive a free iPad Mini.
The ask:
Original, student designed artwork
Symbolizing youth mental health and wellbeing
Paintings, drawings, photography or mixed medium, submitted digitally in hi-res format (PDF, JPEG)
The contest:
There will be two contest categories – one for high school students, one for post-secondary
Submissions from each category will be reviewed by a panel of physicians on the Council on Health Promotion and Doctors of BC communications staff
One winner will be selected from each category
Winners will see their artwork featured on posters in doctors’ offices, schools, on-line, and via social media with credit given to the artist.
Winners will also each receive an Apple iPad Mini.

Participants must email a hi-res PDF or JPEG of their artwork to communications@doctorsofbc.ca with the subject line: Youth Mental Health Art Submission by 11:59PM on Monday, June 30th, 2014. Late submissions will not be accepted.

About Doctors of BC & the Council on Health Promotion
Doctors of BC is the professional association of physicians in the province, and works to make a meaningful difference in improving health care for British Columbians. As partners in progress, we help make sure the voices of doctors are heard by government, health authorities, media, and the public. We support doctors so they can focus on the wellbeing of their patients.
The Council on Health Promotion focuses on issues relating to community health, health promotion, and illness prevention for all British Columbians.
