Your mini profile statistics are based on Medical Services Plan payments made to you for services provided in the 2017 calendar year, including any settlements or retroactive payments issued as of March 31, 2018. Included in the data are claims paid by MSP on behalf of ICBC and WCB. You must have a minimum of $1,000 fee for service earnings for a profile to be produced.
Here’s what’s new for the 2017 Mini Profile:
NEW Type of Practice (TOP) has been added: General Practitioner- Rural at 50%+
Physicians with over 50% of their income earned in a rural community are placed into the new GP Rural comparison group; provided you do not qualify for another GP group, such as the APP TOP for General Practitioners.
You will also notice that the 2017 mini profile looks a bit different. The colour change is consistent with the Doctors of BC colors. In addition, the horizontal bars on the tables have been replaced with actual numbers. This change provides you with the following information:
The actual number of quartile spreads you are away from the 3rd quartile (Q3);
The meaning of the flag value is clearer. >1.5 means you are an outlier for that service; >3 means you are an extreme outlier for that service;
The number of standard deviations you are from the mean.
The profiles are an accurate reflection of claims submissions and payments made where you were identified in the claims record as the physician who provided the service, or in the case of referred services, where you were identified as the referring practitioner. Your comparison group is the province-wide peer group into which you have been placed for 2017, and is determined by the type of services that you were paid for during that year.
